چکیده
The paper presents experimental results from unconfined compression and splitting tensile tests used in combination order to estimate the cohesion intercept of unsaturated soils. Samples different soils form slurry were subjected various suction values using axis translation technique a pressure plate extractor then these samples removed tests. Mohr’ circles for two loading conditions drawn tangents plotted obtain each soil suction. Cohesion was against angle shear strength increase due estimated compared value shearing resistance fully saturated soil. method allowed insight into evolution slurried fine-grained soils, seems be an interesting low-cost alternative established controlled methods strength, yet it is based on assumptions: first that failure envelope linear range between zero vertical stress corresponding loading, second applied does not change significantly moment sample until loading. former assumption fair one given involved; latter investigated by conducting test with measurement during This indicated too. Furthermore, relative φ b normalised indicating reasonable relation valid.

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...

15 صفحه اولThe Correlation between the CBR and Shear Strength in Unsaturated Soil Conditions
In pavement design, the CBR and direct shear tests are two very common laboratory investigations for predicting the strength of a subgrade layer. The relationship between the CBR and water content has been commonly presented in analyses, with the result of the direct shear being expressed from the aspect of effective cohesion and the internal friction angle. Even though most natural soil is in...

Geophysical down-hole surveys can be used to measure the small strain dynamic properties of soils by the effects these properties have on wave propagation. The relevant effects include amplitude decay (corrected for beam divergence) and velocity dispersion. In this paper, down-hole data collected during the GeoInstitute's Denver 2000 field day are presented and analyzed as a Kelvin-Voigt solid....
متن کاملThe Effect of Geopolymerization on the Unconfined Compressive Strength of Stabilized Fine-grained Soils
This study focuses on evaluating the unconfined compressive strength (UCS) of improved fine-grained soils. A large database of unconfined compressive strength of clayey soil specimens stabilized with fly ash and blast furnace slag based geopolymer were collected and analyzed. Subsequently, using adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS), a model has been developed to assess the UCS of stabi...
